In February fewer animals were slaughtered in Slovene slaughterhouses than in January.
In February 2013 fewer animals slaughtered than in the previous month
In comparison with the previous month, in February 2013 the slaughter of cattle was lower by about 17%, of horses and pigs by about 9% and of poultry by about 8%. In the same comparison only the number of slaughtered sheep was higher by about 25%, but sheep represent only a small share of animals slaughtered in slaughterhouses.
Compared to January 2013, the total weight of dressed carcasses of cattle slaughtered in February 2013 decreased by about 17%, of horses by about 13%, of poultry by about 9% and of pigs by about 5%. On the other hand, the total weight of dressed carcasses of sheep increased by about 37%.
In February 2013 fewer animals slaughtered than in February 2012
Compared to February 2012, in February 2013 the number of slaughtered sheep was lower by exactly 31%, of horses by exactly 28%, of pigs by about 13%, of cattle by about 12% and of poultry by about 3%.
The weight of dressed carcasses decreased in February 2013 over February 2012. The total weight of dressed carcasses of horses decreased by about 34%, of sheep by about 32%, of poultry by about 14%, of pigs also by about 14% and of cattle by about 10%.
In February 2013 no imported animals were slaughtered in Slovene slaughterhouses.
