Consumer Price Index (CPI) for May 2013
Overall index of consumer prices in Kosovo decreased 0,3% in May 2013 compared with April 2013. The inflation rate
as measured in May 2013 to May 2012 was 2,2%.
May 2012 – April 2012 -0,3%
Consumer prices in Kosovo suffered a decrease of 0,3% in May 2013 compared with April 2013.
The observed decline in prices was due to subgroup of vegetables (-5,9%), use of personal transport equipment (-2,4%), bread and cereals (-0,8%), milk, cheese and eggs,(-0,9%) with a common impact of -0,7 percentage points in the CPI.
The decrease was counteracted by increase prices in subgroup of fruits (15,4%) with an impact of 0,4 percent in the CPI.
May 2013 – May 2012 2,4%
Consumer prices in Kosovo rose 2,2% in May 2013 compared with May 2012. Increased prices were mainly observed in
subgroups of vegetables (14,3%), tobacco (8,6%), meat (3,4%), banking services (31,0%), oils and fats (11,3%), fruits (8,0%), bread and cereals (1,6%), coffee, tea and cocoa (5,2%), clothing (1,8%), footwear (4,5%), electricity (8,9%), furniture and furnishing, carpets and other floor coverings (4,3%), catering services (1,6%) with a common impact of 2,9 percentage points in the CPI.
The increase was counteracted mainly by decreased prices of use of personal transport equipment (-6,2%),(mainly decreased prices for petrol and diesel), milk, cheese and eggs (-1,0%), sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and sweets (-2,2%) with a common impact of -0,7 percentage points in the CPI.
